issue an advisory. is not whether service issue but there has been a request for the bay bridge. for traffic around the bay area you can see it is still light even in the east bay where we might on an ordinary day see slow traffic on four and 580. we do not this morning. >> thank you george workers at the port of oakland continue a 24 hour strike began last night about 9:00 p.m.. kron force will tran join us with the latest period will are they blocking the interest? >> know they are not. you see the truck that's those are independent truck drivers that are waiting for the ports open at 6:00 a.m. this morning about 55 minutes from now. they are either here to pick up or drop off. they have nothing to do with the union. they plan to do business as usual. this is organized by the s e r i you. they represent about 500 workers at the port of oakland. they

are staging a 24 hour protest because the klan the port of oakland is not bargaining in good faith. they have been attentive to negotiate a contract for 16 month so far no progress. the port is refusing to give them all the documents they need so they can get to the bargaining table with full knowledge of what is going on. the port is asking that the workers contribute 5 percent into their retirement fund while they say it that is yes or no but we still have to look at the numbers to see if we want to do it. what they want to do is protesters out here and not disrupt services that the port of oakland as far as oakland international. they did not trdisrupt any of the travelers. they will get in front of the trucks to stop them from coming in the goal is to disrupt service. the port averages about $6 million every day they want to hit them in the pocketbook. word of this

spread to occupy oakland and last year we saw a lot of occupied oakland people out here. the first day they have the full support of the union the second day they did that day said no we will not support that. this time because they do not want this to be hijacked by the protesters they have hired their own independent security to make sure that this stays with the union back to you james'. >> thvery good will. what time does the port open up? >> it opens at 6:00 a.m.. they are getting off bart trains and gathering. we can have a live interview at that time with the women represented. >> and another strike thousands of bay area nurses are set to walk off the job today it will be the second strike this month by the nurse is represented by the california nurses association. take a look at the video from their strike earlier this month.

registered nurses at eight hospitals operated by southern help and to san jose hospitals operated by hospital corp. of america will go on strike this morning. they are upset about staffing issues sick leave and other issues. the strike is planned for two days. the strike at the san jose hospital is set for one day. the hospitals have hired replacement workers on a five day contract for the strike the official said because of those contracts the striking nurses will not be allowed to turn to work until sunday. >> new for you this morning an update on the situation out of redwood city where firefighters were assisting with a water main break near brewster avenue and wall street. the call came in around 3:00 this morning. crews say excavations have been that-evacuations have been lifted after in a 8 in. pipe was capped. the intersection remains closed at this hour. we do see

>> good morning the strike does not officially and and the people are already gathering they started about 10 minutes ago. there trying to send a message to the port of work and that they are not bargaining in what they call good faith. some of the people that we spoke to this morning at least 500 people here may be a little more or less i tried to ask them as a goal to disrupt the meeting and get in front of the trucks so they could not pick up. they said they did not know they just wanted to send a message to the port of or oakland. if they do get in the wake of the truck's here well that just be the way it is? the response was probably. they cannot fully control the situation. they claimed the port of oakland is refusing

to bargain in good face or work with them --faith. they got the documents on monday but it did not stop workers from calling off the strike. we got a chance to talk to some of th drivers and their the heart and soul of the port of oakland. i ask if they would join in solidarity with the union members and the truck members said no because their livelihood depends on it. they will carry on as usual. if they shut down the port of oakland it will inflict about $6 billion worth of damage. to give an example they started at 9:00 p.m. last night at oakland international. according to one union representative they had about 200 people show up there as well. they never disrupted travel for the passengers, they were

free come and go. we will just have to wait and see what happens. occupy oakland found out about this and even union members were worried they the occupiers would hijack what they were trying to do. this is just a 24 hour strike and day hired their own security to keep occupiers out. they said this is our fight. >> at the airport in oakland you hear that me get a little nervous as we get towards thanksgiving travel. >> exactly, they promised they would not do that. if that happens over here business should come and go. this is the gathering place but you concede that they are already in the roadways over there. the port is not open for another 25 minutes so they can do that. at 6:00 when the gates open we just have to see if they will
